Disability Services On A Contingency Basis

Generally, people suffering from a disability do not have the finances to afford legal representation because their disability has put them in a tough financial position. Yet, without the services of an attorney, they may not be able to obtain the disability benefits they badly need.

For this reason, Midwest Disability, P.A., provides representation for individuals seeking Social Security Disability (SSDI) on a contingency fee basis. Charging fees on a contingency basis assures the client that they will not have to pay any attorney fees unless they first receive the benefits they seek.

What Is Meant By Contingency Fees?

Black’s Law Dictionary defines a contingent fee as: “A fee charged for a lawyer’s services only if the lawsuit is successful or is favorably settled out of court. Contingent fees are usually calculated as a percentage of the client’s net recovery.” Such an arrangement allows an attorney to provide representation to clients who could not otherwise afford the legal services. It also allows the client not to have to pay the attorney fees until after they receive their financial benefits.

Most lawyers charge an hourly rate or charge one lump sum for their services. This is appropriate if the client already has cash on hand or is a successful business. Unfortunately, individuals suffering a disabling injury or illness already have enough bills to pay. They may owe money for medical treatment. As many are homeowners, they may have to pay a mortgage. These individuals usually also have family members and loved ones to support. And because of their disability, they are not able to earn wages and unable to pay their expenses without first receiving SSDI benefits.

The Opportunity To Serve

There are two primary reasons the attorneys and staff at Midwest Disability, P.A., represent individuals in disability matters: (1) We have over 50 years of combined experience trying disability claims and have a reputation for providing quality representation; and (2) We care a great deal for the individuals we represent and wish to help them in their time of need. Our law firm could not provide the representation we do if we did not charge our clients on a contingency fee basis.
